~ Where we open doors, tear down walls and reach across borders…All our journeys blend.
It’s that time of year when carols gracefully fill the air wherever you go. As the nights get colder, charities and organizations are busy gathering donations for those less fortunate.
In Collingwood, there are many wonderful organizations that give back. One of them is a welcoming coffee shop donated by the church that focuses on something a little different. Journey’s Blend is a not-for-profit café that is a Ministry of Journey Community Church which is partially staffed and relies heavily on their dedicated team of volunteers. At Journey’s Blend, friendly faces gather at the tables and the staff serve up delectable delights and fresh coffee with a smile. Clocks hang on the wall telling time from other countries and the ambiance is perfect for a tasty meal or to hook up to the Internet to work.
At Journey’s Blend Café in Collingwood you can expect to leave feeling enriched. The majority of proceeds from this quaint shop stay local and help to impact the lives of those within the Georgian Triangle area. This historic building was the last Blue Mountain Pottery building. A blackboard hangs with daily specials that include a wide selection of tasty food items such as quiche, panini’s, freshly made salads, and the mysterious dessert poutine that’s drizzled in caramel sauce! There’s also a plethora of gluten free options available and yes, they take special diet requests! Prices are more than reasonable. Check out their menu here. You’re even welcome to a free meal on them. Everyone experiences struggles at some point during life’s journey. The café has a mission to give YOU a hand. 🙂
“The reality of the café is to be a family. So, when people walk in the doors we help them feel welcome, not generic. We try to assist regulars in getting involved in the community as well. “ – Journey’s Blend manager and Pastor, Kevin Scott.
A big part of the café is their partnership with “Home for Life” which enables seniors to stay at home longer. This is a volunteer driven program that offers seniors help with a variety of things such as snow removal, grocery shopping, a chance to learn Facebook or to learn how to shop on the internet, but most of all, to keep connected with people.
“Our focus is about creating community within the people that come here. We’ve been able to connect people with resources in order to help them. For example, connecting seniors to stay in their homes longer with Home for Life,” says Kevin Scott.
Journey’s Blend has professional people who will help you with:
o Your Spiritual Journey
o Resume Building
o Job Search Skills
